STAFFORD — The Rams of Southern Regional defeated Freehold Township 14-7 on Saturday afternoon at Southern's homecoming game.
Robinson threw a 31 yard touchdown pass to Jaiden Brown in the second quarter to put Southern ahead 7-0. Freehold Township tied the score at 7 in the third quarter. The Rams sealed the victory on Cole Robinson's one yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
Brown ran for 79 yards and had 36 yards receiving to lead the Rams with 115 total yards.
Southern played strong defense led by JT Cornelius and Nate Committe. Cornelius recorded two sacks and Committe had one sack and three tackles that resulted in loss of yardage. Hank Gallacher and Steve Langton each recorded a sack for the Rams. Jaiden Brown also excelled on defense with one sack and five tackles for Southern.
Will Devane was honored as this years Dunfee Award winner. This is given each year by the Stafford Township Police Department in memory of Larry Dunfee. Patrolman Dunfee was en route to police headquarters to report for duty when he lost his life in a motor vehicle accident at the young age of 28. His memory is honored each Southern Regional Homecoming.
Southern's record improves to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the Constitution Division of the Shore Conference. The Rams have already clinched the Constitution Division title.
