SHIP BOTTOM, NJ - The pristine beaches and bountiful Pinelands of the Long Beach Island Region bring a certain serenity during the winter months.

Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce members are determined to get you out in the cold to make the most of exceptional events that celebrate low temperatures and high energy.

Beginning with the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts & Sciences and their DEEP FREEZE FEST taking place January 26 from 7-10 p.m.

This fun, Friday Night out transforms the LBIF gallery into a cozy winter wonderland with live music, a German-style pretzel bar, fire pits & s'mores, snacks, plus cold brews!

This community fundraiser will benefit the LBI Foundation to help maintain year round programming for the arts & sciences.

The more the merrier with FREE Admission! Beer wristbands & snacks will be available for purchase at the door.

$20 Beer Wristbands will be available for purchase at the door ONLY. (Must be 21+ to purchase wrist band, please be prepared with ID).

The Polar Paddle will be held on February 3 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The South End Surf and Alliance for Living Ocean, remind us that just because winter has rolled around doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the Barnegat Bay.

Grab your wetsuits and booties, a wool cap and join us for a winter paddle race in our frigid (hopefully not frozen) waters.

Pre-registration is available online and race packet pick up will be available before start of race.

Registration will be at South End Surf N Paddle, a Southern Ocean Made Accredited Business and part of the Surf and Sip Brew Trail located at 220 S Bay Ave, Beach Haven, NJ. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. 

Race start is at noon one block over from the shop, just a short walk away. There is plenty of free parking at both the shop and at the race start location.

Join the crew back at South End Surf N Paddle for the potluck after party, where you will find food, drinks, awards and prizes.

Save the date and meet us on the 48th Street beach (in Brant Beach), and be home in plenty of time for the big game!

Back by popular demand, the Chocolate Week takes place this year on February 11-18. This event brings  a series of offers, activities and events that include Valentine's Day and President's Day Weekend.

Keeping the focus on simple pleasures that tie in with Valentine's Day and mid-winter escapes, the Southern Ocean County Chamber coordinates local businesses and organizations to extend special promotions, offers and classes that are being to create a sweet vibe throughout the Long Beach Island Region of the Jersey Shore from Barnegat, Long Beach Island, Stafford,Tuckerton and Little Egg Harbor.

A good place to start for all 21 and over is the Southern Ocean Made Surf and Sip Brew Trail featuring offerings and events from three local craft breweries as well as surf experience related galleries, shops and hands on exhibits to keep that summer feeling coming throughout the winter.

For families looking for something to do with the under 21 crew, Passport of LBI is loaded with non-profit cultural organizations will have movie screenings, demos and events to make your stay even richer. Pick up a copy at the visitor center and make a winter connection.

Close out the colder months with a blast on Febuary 24 for the third annual Eskimo Outreach hosted at Mud City Crab House. A Community Clambake of Arctic Proportions will take place from noon to 8 p.m. to benefit the Jetty Rock Foundation. The event features live music, craft beer, spiked hot beverages, cider, hot chocolate igloo, Little Eskimo activities, auctions & more.
