Driver Uninjured After Uplifting Utility Pole on Route 539 in Stafford on Thursday

STAFFORD - On Thursday afternoon, the Stafford Township Police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Route 539 at the Stafford Township and Barnegat Township border.  The accident involved a Freightliner Semi-Trailer driven by  Alan Lunn, age 46 of Whiting.  Mr. Lunn was attempting to enter the roadway after a delivery.  He misjudged the height of the wires and struck them causing the utility pole to be lifted from the ground.

When the police arrived they found the semi-trailer with electrical wires and the utility pole on top of the cargo box.  Mr. Lunn was not injured and no summonses were issued.

Route 539 was shut down for a short while Atlantic City Electric cleared the scene of loose wires and the broken utility pole.

Patrolman Anthony Vincent is the investigating officer.  The Warren Grove Fire Department assisted at the scene.
