Fontana, Johnson and Mulrane Lead Southern Regional Boys Lacrosse to 10-8 State Tourney Victory Over Kingsway Regional


STAFFORD - The Southern Regional Rams were victorious on Saturday morning in a quarterfinal round matchup in the South Jersey, Group 4 tournament at home.  Nick Fontana scored three goals and had three assists to lead the third seed Rams over the sixth-seeded Kingsway Regional 10-8,.

Will Johnson scored three goals and Kyle Mulrane added two assists and a goal for Southern.  The Rams scored five times in the fourth quarter.

Ryan Comfort finished with a goal and an assist while Ryan McWhorter and Dylan Smith added a goal apiece for Southern, which took 32 shots as a team.  Goalkeeper Tristan Farina made 17 saves for Southern.

"I'm incredibly proud of how this team had grown and matured this year," said Coach John Pampalone. "I said we wanted to be playing our best lacrosse in May and we are." 

Joel Scerbo scored a game-high five goals for Kingsway, which scored four in the fourth quarter.

Southern travels to face second-seeded Lenape on Wednesday n the semifinal round.
