BARNEGAT, NJ - Paul Rueda is the leader of his family business PKR Building and Development that serves all of Ocean County. Their primary office is located in Barnegat on Route 9, formerly in downtown Beach Haven.
They will be having a Grand Re-opening event at their new location at 307 South Main Street in Barnegat. The event will be held on Thursday March 30, from 4-7 p.m. All are welcome to attend and visit their showroom.
Paul shared that he has been self-employed working in the construction industry for the last 15 years. He has been working in construction for over 22 years since 1994.
Paul attended college to pursue a degree in engineering. He despised sitting behind a desk and decided that he was best in the field. "My grandfather owned rental properties and I followed him around fixing things as a boy," Paul said. "My dad also did the same thing so I guess it was a family quest to want to succeed in this field of construction."
Paul's grandfather and father inspired him to push into a career in construction. Through them he gained valuable experiences that would help in his life. As a young adult, Paul worked for a number of construction companies that also boosted his experience and expertise.
"I broke away and started my own business as a subcontractor. I worked like that for years learning and taking classes to gain more knowledge in construction," Rueda continued. "As my experience grew so did my projects. We started with bathroom remodels and from there home additions. Then we expanded to adding second floors to homes and naturally new homes came into play."
Rueda explained, "I love building new homes or very drastic remodels that includes raising houses. The challenge besides making sure the architecture and engineering is perfect is making sure the clients vision of their dream home is what you are seeing to create for them. That does take time and it is a lot of fun because most people are more creative than they think they are." Rueda continued, "I love that experience and I am grateful to experience that with my clients."
PKR is unique compared to other companies because Rueda holds FEMA certificates for building coastal construction for residential and non-residential construction. Paul continually takes classes when they are available to keep on top of the newest regulations and products. "This will only enhance our client's home investment and lead to great satisfaction in working with PKR," Rueda said.
For homeowners, especially in our area that can be prone to damage due to hurricanes, flooding, storms, and sadly enough fraud, PKR has been one of those builders who have always stayed true to their customers.
PKR Building and Development has had many challenges to overcome to achieve such success and something they're very proud of is what they were able to offer those families who lost everything from Superstorm Sandy. "Unfortunately with all the Sandy fraud and the RREM payment delays it has made it harder for any good builder or construction company to do business, Paul said, "I have personally gotten people home that have been robbed and it's a great feeling to help those people and prove that not all contractors are the same."
Since PKR has been a family owned business for over 2 generations, Rueda has recently announced that his two oldest children have joined the team, Ashlyn Rueda, 21 and Marc Rueda, 18.
Ashlyn is the Office Manager for PKR while currently attending Brookdale for Architectural Design. Marc is an Onsite construction worker for PKR and will be going to OCC for Business Management next Fall. His youngest son Alex, 15 who attends Barnegat High School and is a football player for the Bengals, aspires to be an architect and join the family tradition as well. PKR will make you feel like part of the family.
