SHIP BOTTOM, NJ - Today was the day for the Fourth Annual Frank Panzone "Cruising for a Cure" event. The weather caused the "cruising" part of the event to be cancelled. The cruising included motorcyle riders and classic car drivers.
The rain did not stop the day from being a tremendous success. A great party took place at Joe Pop’s Shore Bar & Restaurant in Ship Bottom, NJ from 12:00-4:00pm.
There was live music, amaizng local food presented by restaurants such as El Swell, Panzone's Pizza and Pasta, Joe Pop's Shore Bar, Shore Fire Grille and others. There was an incredible auction. The Party Crasher's Gaming Trailer was available for the children. People brought non-perishable food items that will be donated to local food through the Hunger Foundation of Southern Ocean County.
Jillian (Panzone) Elsasser and David headed the on stage presentations. On the stage, Jill shared how her dad drove his motorcyle in the first "Cruising for a Cure." Jill explained that her dad drove while undergoing chemotherapy and Jill rode on the back of his cycle at that first event. Jill said "my dad was a fighter, nothing would stop him."
Frank was a beloved husband, father, businessman and friend to many in the Long Beach Island community.
David Caldarella, Founder and President of David's Dream and Believe mentioned on the event website that "Frank was so giving to his community throughout his life and this was on full display even as he battled stage IV cancer. His spirit, determination and courage in the face of indomitable odds are only a couple of the reasons we are so proud to call this event the Frank V. Panzone Jr Memorial Cruisin for a Cure!"
The most remarkable aspect of the afternoon was to hear the testimonies of a number of cancer survivors. Each of these people testifying were in some way impacted by the Foundation. They all were ladies today and they all shared how they are so grateful for the ministry of David Caldarella and his team.
The running main message was to thank the wonderful Southern Ocean County community members for their financial support. The love and support of the community in such a practical, tangible and in many cases, sacrificial way, is dramatically impacting many lives.
David shared on the phone a few hours after the event.
"It was a blessed day even with the bad weather especially when an amazing crowd gathers to support families in our community battling cancer. It was made extra special when we were finally able to introduce our brand new patient advocate committee to our supporters for the first time. The lively crowd got to hear heartfelt stories directly from the patients and caregivers who benefit from events like the 4th Annual Frank v. Panzone Jr. Memorial Cruisin for a Cure. The impact from our Patient Advocate Committee could be felt in the hearts of everybody throughout Joe Pop's. The Dream and Believe Beacon of Hope and Love was shining so bright!"
