STAFFORD, NJ - Saturday was a beautiful day with incredibly nice weather. This was a wonderful opportunity for all to join together and celebrate at the annual Stafford Township Founders Day. There were many pirates parading around the town celebrating this year's theme of "Pirates of the Pines."
The day kicked off with the annual 8 a.m. breakfast at the Stafford Fire House for all local senior citizens. The parade was magnificent with many organizations participating and marching the route.
After the parade many residents gathered for a host of other festivites which took place at the Doc Cramer Sports Complex.
There were performances by the Starlight Performing Arts Academy and a presentation of parade awards. The Mayor and Stafford Council made presentations and offered welcoming statements at the ceremonies. The Southern Regional High School Vocal Ensemble performed and then the rides opened up for many kids to enjoy.
There festivities continued throughout the late afternoon with the Little Miss Stafford, Little Town Crier and pie eating contests. There was an obstacle course challenge which was followed b the Miss Stafford 2016 Pageant.
The people hung around through the evening enjoying musice, great food by may food vendors, an array of ice cream truck and a beer truck for the adults.
At approximately 9:15 pm there was a spectacular fireworks show.
This was a great day and much credit goes to the many volunteers who make this happen. The Stafford Recreation main staff of Betty Anne McVey, Jennifer McBrien and Justin Hazelton led the way for an unforgettable time.
