Mike Gesicki:  Penn State Tight End

Penn State (7-5) plays against the Georgia Bulldogs (9-3) in the TaxSlayer Bowl on Saturday at noon in Jacksonville, Florida.  The game is on ESPN.

Southern Regional graduate Mike Gesicki has had a solid sophomore season at PSU. The Nittany Lions were hoping for a stronger season, but the offensive line has struggled throughout the season.  Their highly touted quarterback, Christian Hackenberg struggled to have a solid year statistically.  Many professional scouts have been saying all year that Christian will leave PSU and go to the NFL.

Mike Gesicki has been one of Hackenberg's favorite targets.  MIke has tremendous talent and you can expect the second half of Mike's career at Penn State to be awesome.

Mike was one of the nation’s most highly-touted tight end prospects after earning four varsity letters for coach Chuck Donahue at Southern Regional High School.  MIke ended his fine career as the Rams’ all-time leading receiver with 1,817 yards on 103 receptions, with 16 touchdown catches.  Mike was rated as the top tight end recruit in the class of 2014 by 247Sports.com and was a Top 15 tight end prospect nationally according to ESPN, Rivals.com and Scout.com.

Mike was also a great basketball and volleyball player at Southern, earning a total of 12 letters in the three sports...Ended his career as the Rams’ all-time leading scorer in basketball (1,867 points)...Named MVP of the East/West Basketball All-Star Game and was the champion of the 2014 state dunk contest.  In volleyball, helped Southern Regional to the NJSIAA State Championship and was named the 2013 New Jersey Player-of-the-Year.

TAPinto wants to also congratulate Mike Gesicki and we are looking forward to an exciting game tomorrow!
