BEACH HAVEN - The powerful winds from Tropical Storm Isaias destroyed the temporary outdoors theatre venue at Beach Haven's beloved Surflight Theatre.

The theatre has had to have their performances outdoors at Bicenteninial Park due to the coronavirus. The storm winds did extensive damage to its structure.

The theatre posted a bulletin on their Facebook page, and the Ocean Professional Theatre Co., the nonprofit organization that operates the Surflight Theatre, posted a  GoFundMe fundraiser which described the destruction and need for financial assistance.

The statement read:

“A successful inventive outdoor season was well underway, with the musical Cabaret just having closed, many children’s theatre shows having played, (and) Frozen Jr. and Mamma Mia about to open,” according to the statement.

“The gale force winds did them in by destroying their outdoor tent, collapsing entirely the venue, stage, props and the electric light and sound equipment,” it continued.

The Surflight Theatre is hoping to make repairs and reopen later this week.
