Jackson Defeats Southern Regional 10-8 in Friday Gridiron Action

STAFFORD -  Jackson Memorial's Justin Burkert's kicked a 28-yard field goal with 2:45 left in regulation to lead the Jaguars to a 10-8 victory over Southern on Friday night at Southern. 

The Rams trailed 7-0 at halftime but took the lead in the third quarter when it recorded a safety and then Matt Barnett returned the ensuing free kick 72 yards for a touchdown to make it 8-7 Southern.

Stephon Rodriguez had a 1-yard TD run for Jackson Memorial in the first quarter.

It was also Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Southern and the team honored their honorary captains, Louise Brummer and Sue Sharkey.  Both have been healed of breast cancer.
