STAFFORD, NJ - In the wake of the Louisiana flood that occured just two weeks ago, a local EMT wants to make it "her mission" to aid those victims in this sudden crisis.

Southern Regional Class of 2013 graduate, Marina Milia, is the local EMT traveling to the Golf Coast and leading a convoy to help her hand out the donations to the families affected.

Milia recalls just four years ago the tragedy that Hurricane Sandy left behind and said, "after all that my family had gone through in Sandy I really wanted to help other families in crisis like mine was."

Milia says:

I am a New Jersey State EMT and a Paramedic Student who will be traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana October 3, 2016 for the EMS World Expo/Conference on a scholarship from EMS World. In an attempt to aid those in need I will be bringing with me donations of clothing, shoes, pet supplies, small toys, and personal care products from hundreds of people across the state. The donations will be delivered by a donated school bus with a driver. I will be leading the convoy down to the Gulf Coast and will be helping unload all of the donations.

If you'd like to donate please do so by bringing all of the items to the Manahawkin United Methodist Church (116 Stafford Ave. Manahawkin) from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. or to the Presybeterian Church of Toms River (1070 Hooper Ave. Toms River) from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m on Saturday September 3, 2016 ONLY.

If you'd like to donate your time, volunteers are needed all day to help collect and sort all of the donations and transport them within Ocean County.

Please donate any of the following items:

  • Clothing (all sizes)
  • Small toys
  • Pet supplies
  • Paper towels and toilet paper
  • Detergent
  • Baby items (diapers, wipes, bottles)
