STAFFORD, NJ - The Thorne family invites the community to celebrate the life of Marie Thorne.  Marie was a deeply loved woman who was killed while walking near her home in a hit and run accident Monday morning in Barnegat.  The family has a deeply rooted Christian faith.  The service will be officiated by Rev. Drew Overgard, Pastor of Cedar Run Assembly of God.

One of the first things the family did when they all gathered together was to pray for the young girl responsible for Marie's death.  The family prayed and forgave the young lady.  Cassie Hansen, 27 of Barnegat has been charged in the death.

Marie's son Brad shared,  "We just learned that the driver who struck Mom was arrested. We spent time tonight praying for her.  We forgive her and pray God would be made known in her life.  We miss Mom terribly but know her greatest desire was for others to know God through her life and now even in death."

Eric was diagnosed with a brain tumor in infancy that led to both physical and mental disabilities. Marie never let Eric's obstacles define him and worked tirelessly to help him achieve in areas of academics, athletics with the Special Olympics, and friendships. She was always at his side even as he went to rest with Jesus at age 15.

She was an active member at Cedar Run Assembly of God Church and was passionate about her faith in Christ. Over the years she assisted in leadership of the Royal Rangers program, children's church and adult small groups as well as various community ministries including Jesus Fest with the Christian Churches of Southern Ocean County and Marriage Enrichment. Her passion was helping others to know the life-changing love of Jesus.
