STAFFORD, NJ - At approximately 7:35 a.m. this morning, the Stafford Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a van and a sports utility vehicle. The accident occurred at the Route 72 and Stafford Park Boulevard intersection.
Police investigation revealed that the van being driven by Anthony M. Walker, 59 years old of Neptune, NJ was attempting to make a left hand turn from Stafford Park Boulevard onto Route 72 west when the sports utility vehicle going east collided with one another. The sports utility vehicle was being driven by Adam J. Bakos, 17 years old of Manahawkin, NJ.
Due to the impact Bakos' vehicle rolled over and both Bakos' and Walker's vehicles sustained significant damage, explained the report. Both vehicles were also later towed from the scene.
The collision caused both drivers to sustain internal injuries. Walker was transported to the Southern Ocean Medical Center from the scene and Bakos was later driven by a family member to SOMC for further medical evaluation. The condition of both drivers is unknown at this time, police reported.
Traffic on Route 72 was stopped and rerouted for approximately 1 hour around the scene.
The investigating officer is Ptl. Jillson and assisting on the scene were the Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company, the Stafford Township Volunteer EMS and the MONOC paramedics.
Walker received a summons for Careless Driving. This matter is pending a future court date in Stafford Township Municipal Court.
