STAFFORD - On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 1 p.m. the Stafford Township Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash involving multiple injuries on Route 72 at Neptune Drive. 

The initial investigation revealed that a BMW driven by Dylan J Houser, 20 years old of Little Egg Harbor was traveling east on Route 72 approaching the Neptune Drive traffic signal.  As Houser approached the traffic signal, he attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Neptune Drive, at which time he was struck by a Ford pick-up truck traveling west on Route 72. 

The Ford pick-up truck was driven by Rudy Esteves, 54 years old of West Chester, PA.  Both vehicles left the roadway as a result of the impact.  The Ford pick-up also struck and knocked down a traffic signal as it left the roadway near the Buy Rite Liquor store.

The MONOC Paramedic unit 216 and the Stafford Township First Aid Squad treated all injured persons at the scene. Both passengers in the BMW, Christian Stott, 18, of Manahawkin and a 17 year old male also from Manahawkin. They were transported to the Southern Ocean Medical Center for further medical evaluation. 

The driver and passenger of the Ford Pick-up truck, Mr. and Mrs. Esteves, were evaluated and released on scene by medical personnel. 

All of the injuries are considered non-life threatening and all were wearing their seat belts.

Traffic on Route 72 was directed through the scene for approximately an hour.  Both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene. 

Mr. Houser was issued a summons for Careless Driving.

Patrolman Jillson is the investigating officer.  Assisting on scene was the Stafford Township Fire Company and Officers Fritz, Samaritano, Oler, MacFarlane, Moslowitz, and multiple bystanders.
