North Carolina Couple Arrested by Stafford Police At Rt. 72 Ocean Acres WaWa

STAFFORD, NJ - A North Carolina man, John J. Passarelli, age 30 was arrested by Stafford Police late Friday afternoon on a number of charges.  Stafford Police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a male who appeared heavily intoxicated in the WaWa parking lot located on Route 72 at Mermaid Drive in Ocean Acres.  When the police arrived they found Passarelli, from Sanford, North Carolina in the parking lot.  

The investigation revealed the man had several outstanding warrants from New Jersey and North Carolina, and he was taken into custody.  

Further investigation revealed Megan Ellen Saunders, 30 years old, also of Sanford, North Carolina, was found to be operating their vehicle in the parking lot. She was placed under arrest for DWI.  The woman's two year old daughter was in the vehicle and the child was later turned over to family members.

Passarelli was transported to the Ocean County Jail in default of his warrants.

Saunders was charged with driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, reckless driving and other motor vehicle charges.  Saunders was later released to family members.
