About the Oceanaires

In 2017, the Oceanaires men’s chorus of Ocean County, New Jersey, celebrates its 60th anniversary of singing barbershop harmony, a uniquely American musical genre that dates to the late 19th century. The Oceanaires sing a cappella (without accompaniment), a style that features harmony in four parts: tenor, lead, baritone, and bass. The repertoire ranges from traditional to pop to modern Broadway hits.

The Oceanaires chorus is the Ocean County chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, and is one of scores of chapters throughout the United States, Canada, and worldwide. Currently, the Oceanaires boasts 30 members and performs annually at dozens of events in and around Ocean County.
