Southern defeats Absegami 67-62

The Southern Regional Rams won their first game of the season with a hard fought victory against Absegami.  The Rams were without leading scorer Peyton Wejnert due to illness.  Sophomore Jake Dubois was called on to start his first game and he came through as he led the Rams with 20 points.  John Keizer had a strong game on the inside both in rebounding and scoring as she scored 15 points.  Jake’s older brother, senior Ethan Dubois scored 12 and Sean Clayton contributed 10 points in the victory.  Mark Valeriani had 7 points, 9 assists and 5 steals for the Rams.  Absegami was led in scoring by by Brian Townsell with 21 with 21 points.

Saint John Vianney defeats Pemberton 57-56.

In the tale of two halves, St. John Vianney caught fire and came from way behind to defeat the Pemberton Hornets 57-56.  Pemberton was coasting at halftime with a 31-15 lead.  St. John Vianney was led by Grant Goode with 30 of his 36 points scored in the second half.  SJV 57-56 over Pemberton.  Pemberton was led by Ed Rivera with 16 points.  Andrew and Jordan Heck scored 9 and 7 points for the Hornets. 

 

Holy Spirt 59 Pinelands 46

Holy Spirit from Absecon defeated the Wildcats from Tuckerton by a score of 59-46.  Dante Daniel (17), Tyler Jones (15) and Travis Stoil (12) paved the way for Holy Spirit.   Pinelands was led by David Lunn (20), Christ Burke (12) and Mike Suarez with 10 points. 

 

Bergen Catholic 86, Howell 80

Gabriele Stefanini scored a game-high 26 points to lead undefeated Bergen Catholic, the No. 15 ranked team in New Jersey to an easy 86-62 victory over Howell.  Bergen Catholic outscored Howell, 26-13, in the third quarter. Taj Benning added 18 points for Bergen Catholic, while David Logan chipped in 10.  Howell's Brandon Wilson scored a team-high 12 points, while Steve Palumbo added 11
