Several Injuries in Sunday Evening Accident on Route 72 and Hull Road

STAFFORD — On Sunday evening the Stafford Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Route 72 West at Hull Drive involving two vehicles and several injuries.

Police report that Duane Romana, 46 years old from Harrisburg, PA was traveling east on Route 72 approaching Hull Drive.  

Mr. Romana initiated a left turn onto Hull Drive. Romana’s vehicle struck a Hyundai SUV, which was traveling westbound on Route 72.

The Hyundai SUV was being driven by Kyran Hurley, 52 years old of Cherry Hill, NJ. The impact between the two vehicles caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and sustain significant damage.

Romana was the only occupant in the Chevrolet Camaro.  

The occupants in the Hyundai SUV besides Mr. Hurley were — Karen Lindgren, 51 years old, Claire Lindgren 77 years old, Joseph Lindgren, 81 years old, Lauren Hurley, 19 years old and a female juvenile who was 16.All of these live in Cherry Hill.

As a result of the collision, Mr. Romana was transported to the Atlantic City Trauma Center with a head injury. Mrs. Lindgren (77 years old) was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center with internal injuries. These injuries are nonlife threatening.

Furthermore, Mr. Hurley, Ms. Lindgren, Mr. Lindgren, Ms. Hurley and the female juvenile were transported the Southern Ocean Medical Center for observation and further medical evaluation. 

All of the occupants in both cars were wearing their seat belts. 

The accident occurred at 8:24 p.m. and traffic on Route 72 was redirected around the scene for approximately two hours.

Patrolman Jillson is the investigating officer.  Assisting on scene were the Stafford Township Volunteer EMS, Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Department and Great Bay Regional EMS.

Mr. Romana received a summons for Careless Driving, pending a future court appearance in Stafford Township Municipal Court.
