Ship Bottom Residents Concerned About Upcoming Ordinance Dealing With Non-motorized Watercraft


SHIP BOTTOM, NJ - A number of Ship Bottom residents have taken to social media sites to express their displeasure with an upcoming ordinance dealing with the launching of non-motorized watercraft in the Waterfront Park area of the borough between 9th and 12th streets.

The ordinance calls for a $5 fee to be assessed for non-motorized watercraft inthe Waterfront Park section of the borough. 

Ordinance 2016-12 reads, "it shall be unlawful to launch any non-motorized watercraft from any area of the Waterfront Park, which shall include the area around the bayfront extending at 9th Street to the lagoon at 12th Street without having first paying a fee of $5.00 per non-motorized watercraft.... non-motorized watercraft shall include but not limited to any kayak, canoe, waterboard or paddleboard."
