The Rams won a big game on Tuesday afternoon to advance to the championship game in the Ocean County Tournament defeating this same Manchester team they faced on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 4-3. Tuesday's victory over Manchester propelled the Rams into Thursday night's Ocean County Tournament championship game against Toms River North.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Rams took on the Manchester Hawks again and won 4-2. This game was a preliminary round game in the Shore Conference Tournament. Southern is seeded 12th and Manchester 21st in the SCT.
Noah Brown went 2-for-3 with two RBI as 12th-seeded Southern defeated 21st-seeded Manchester Township, 4-2, in the preliminary round of the Shore Conference Tournament in Manahawkin.
Pat Barrett went 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run while Andrew Luongo pitched five innings, allowing six hits, with three strikeouts and no walks for Southern.
Zach Oddo went 1-for-3 with one RBI and Marcos Matias went 2-for-3 with one double and one run. Connor Ciliberto and Cole Markley each scored one run while Colin Flood pitched two innings, allowing three hits, with one strikeout and no walks.
Derek Schmidt went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Kirk Montanye went 3-for-4 with one RBI for Manchester Township. Patrick Carney and Matthew Migliaccio each went 1-for-3 with one run while Gavin Pabst pitched five innings, allowing eight hits, with four strikeouts and two walks.
Southern advances to face fifth-seeded Lacey in the first round.
