Southern Girls Basketball Comes Up Short Against State Power Notre Dame 56-51

STAFFORD, NJ - The Southern Girls Basketball team gave the No. 12 team in NJ, Notre Dame a run for the money this afternoon in a tough 56-51 loss.

Hailee Jantorno scored 18 points, hitting 10 free throws, and Eve Crawford added 12 points to lead Notre Dame against the Rams in the semifinals of the Score at the Shore tournament on Tuesday afternoon.

Notre Dame, which led 24-19 at halftime, advanced to Thursday's final and will face Mainland at 1:30 p.m.

Kaela Curtin scored a game-high 20 points and Colleen Brady added 12 points with seven rebounds for Southern.  The Rams were again without two key players.  Lauren Cruse has been out with illness and Mikayla Nicolini has leg injury.  Southern will host Manalapan in the third-place game at 11:45 a.m. Thursday.
