Southern Girls Hoops Season Ends in 62-59 Loss To Clearview in State Tourney

MULLICA HILL - The Southern Girls Basketball team had to travel to Clearview Regional in Mullica Hill on Monday night.  The eleventh seeded Rams lost to fifth seeded Clearview 62-59.

The teams were closely matched up with the exception of Clearview's two top performers, Jordan Harbaugh and Elena Hansen.  Harbaugh scored 30 points with six 3 pointers.  Hansen tallied 18 points and 18 rebounds to lead Clearview.
Clearview moves forward to play third seeded Lenape Regional in the South Jersey Group IV semifinals on Wednesday night.  

Both teams came out strong offensively as the score was tied at 14 at the end of the first quarter.  Clearview took a 29-22 lead into halftime.  The Lady Rams kept fighting and scored 20 points in the third quarter and were down by two 44-42 entering the final frame.

Southern was up by one point with 3:01 left in the game but Clearview took the lead and would not relinquish it.  

Southern had seven different players in the scoring column.  They were led by Lauren Cruse who had 19 points while Colleen Brady had 10. Anna Spaschak and Kaela Curlin each chipped in with 8 points.

Southern's season ended with a final record of 14-13.
