SHIP BOTTOM, NJ - The region's century strong business and accredited Destination Marketing Organization, the Southern Ocean Chamber, announces that their CEO Lori Pepenella, CDME will be presenting at Destination International's "Imagine 2018."
Pepenella will speak at this annual convention held in Anaheim, California on the innovative tourism practices and economic development programs that have been established. She will be presenting to the leading tourism and marketing professionals from across the globe.
Destination International is the world's largest and most reliable resource for destination marketing. As a global trade association representing over 5000 professionals and nearly 600 destination organizations, convention bureaus and tourism boards.
The annual convention brings over 1500 professionals to inform, connect, inspire and educate with the goal to drive destination economic impact, job creation, community sustainability and quality of life through travel.
Pepenella was selected to present during the conference on a topic that has helped the Long Beach Island Region thrive.
The 45 minute presentation will be titled "Cultivating Culture within your Destination" which will showcase the collaboration that has helped redefine beach culture in our part of the Jersey Shore.
The July 12 session will provide real time success stories of how blending businesses with traditional assets allow for a richer experience, broader destination branding and return visits.
Discussion will include first hand knowledge of creating the award winning brew trail, the first in the nation to include non alcoholic stops, working with non profits to generate a home school study programming, the Wedding Road Show and how it continues to grow the demand destination wedding and special events.
The program will also discuss how the iconic Chowderfest weekend brings many levels of economic development including non profit events that take place before and after the festival.
Pepenella recently was awarded the Freeholder Joseph Vicari Ocean County Tourism Achievement Award for her long time efforts in advancing tourism within the county and received the NJ Tourism Excellence Award in Trenton on May 10 for the development of the Southern Ocean Made Brew Trail.
