STAFFORD - Raritan grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning defeating Southern Regional on Tuesday afternoon in a first round contest in the Shore Conference Tournament.

Both pitchers had strong outings.Erin Boyle got the win on the mound for Raritan. She went seven innings, allowing no runs, eight hits, struck out six and did not walk a single batter..

Tatiyana Ford pitched a strong game while taking the loss for Southern. She surrendered two runs and one earned allowing 12 hits over seven innings.  She struck out five and did not surrender a walk. ,

Taylor Bass led Southern with two hits in three at bats. 

Southern's record drops to 12-10 on the season.  They finished 10-4 in Shore Conference Class A South.

Southern's next contest is against Pinelands on Wednesday, May 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Doc Cramer Park.
