STAFFORD, NJ - The Southern Regional Boys Golf team had a very successful 2016 season.  They were Co-Champions of Shore Conference A South, Wildcat Invitational Champions, and claimed their third consecutive Ocean County Tournament team title.

Southern's record last year was 20-1.  The Rams are coached by Jeff Reilly who is in his 18th season.  Coach Reilly has an overall career record of 301-93.  Southern has two home courses.  They are the Ocean Acres Country Club and Hidden Creek Country Club in Egg Harbor Township.

The core of that team returns this season.  The squad is led by senior Matt Rizzo who won his first Ocean County Tournament individual title and had numerous end of season honors.

There are three returning juniors expected to have a strong campaign.  They are Caleb Rossi, Nick Campanelli, and Chris D’Alessandro. Each of these boys had outstanding sophomore seasons.

"All four of the returners have worked hard in the off season in preparation for this season," said Coach Jeff Reilly. "We are confident that we can compete in Class A South, Ocean County, Shore Conference and NJSIAA Group IV for this season."
Another key returner to the team this year is junior Nolan Ruff.  Junior Ethan Leming, sophomore Pete Fabian and freshman Jonathan Sheehan are all expected to have strong seasons.

The toughest competition the Rams will face in Class A South should be Toms River North.  The Shore Conference Tournament is usually led by powers such as CBA, Wall, Rumson and St. Rose.

The Rams should be contenders for a number of championships this season.
