STAFFORD, NJ – The Southern Regional football team has shown great improvement and is on a hot streak. The Rams have won three straight games and 5 out of their last 6 contests in the tough Shore Conference Class A South division.
This is Southern’s first playoff appearance since 2012 and they are the number 7 seed in the South Jersey Group V division. They face a formidable in the Rancocas Valley Red Devils. They have a 7-1 overall record and are the number 2 seed.
The Rams have been leaning on the running of Matt Barnett. Barnett has 68 carries for 546 yards and eight touchdowns. They also depend on John Dolphin and his 570 rushing yards this year. Linebacker Joe Miele leads the defense with 52 tackles. Miele also doubles as a strong rusher on offense.

Southern’s quarterback Sam Cammarata suffered a broken clavicle bone in the beginning of last week’s game against Toms River.South. His back up Sean Distelcamp stepped in and threw two touchdown passes and did a nice job directing the squad.
Rancocas Valley Regional has also won three straight. They are led by running back Iverson Clement. He has 1,197 rushing yards and has recorded 18 touchdowns. Quarterback Bryce Mangene has thrown 10 touchdown passes for the Red Devils. Deric Vincent has returned from injury to spark the Rams with a number of long touchdown receptions this season.
Friday’s matchup is at Rancocas Valley Regional and begins at 7 p.m. The Stafford and LBI area fans are all encouraged to attend and support the Rams.
