BRISTOL, RI - Southern Regional wrestling alumnni Zach Wilhelm who wrestles for Stevens Institute of Technology won the 149 lbs. championship at the 2016 Roger Williams Invitational in Bristol, Rhode Island on Saturday, November 12.  Wilhelm won the 149 lbs championship by defeating Johnson & Wales' Malik Rasheed 8-6 in a sudden victory for the title.

Wilhelm is a junior at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.  He is a biomedical engineering major.  

In Zach's sophomore year last season, he was named Honorable Mention All-Centennial Conference after a third-place finish.  He placed third at the NCAA regionals and he made his first career appearance at NCAA nationals.  Last season he won a  career-high 41 matches, recorded six pins, had six major decisions and won five times by technical fall.  Last season's 41 victories was the fourth most matches in program history

In Wilhelm's freshman year he finished tied for third on the team with 28 wins.  Wilhelm has opportunity to make even more history in his final two season wrestling for Stevens.
