Southern Volleyball Wins 3 Matches at CBA Tournament

LINCROFT, NJ - The Southern Regional Boys Volleyball team won three matches today at a tournament at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft. 

Coach Eric Maxwell's powerful, top ranked team in NJ starts out their season with 3-0 record.  The Rams are led by Liam Maxwell.  Liam was a first team all state player last year.  Southern has been in the NJ state final for each of the last seven years.  Maxwell is seventh all time in NJ history with 481 kills last season   Liam had a solid performance today.  

Another fine player for the Rams is junior Brennan Davis.  As a sophomore he posted 156 digs, 149 service points and 114 assists.  He is a key player as the Rams attempt to finish the season as the number one team in NJ.

The Rams coach Eric Maxwell shared his feelings about today's victory:  "Great start to the season. We played three quality teams today and were able to go 2-0 in each one. I didn't think we played exceptional but we played extremely hard. We battled for every point and that resulted in good things happening."

.Rams Defeat St. Josephs of Metchen 2-0

The Rams defeated St. Joe's in straight games by scores of 25-20 and 25-21

Rams Defeat  CBA 2-0

Southern defeats CBA 25-23 and 25-13.

Shane Bent, 2 kills, 2 blocks


Rams Defeat Eastern Regional 2-0

The Rams defeated Eastern in straight games 25-14 and 25-23.

Colin Lockwood 4 kills
