Southern Wrestlers Win District 29 Title: Barnett, Pepe, Stout Claim Titles

WOOLWICH TOWNSHIP, NJ:  The Southern Regional Wrestling team captured the team title in the District 29 tournament at Kingway Regional on Saturday.  Host Kingsway had 5 individual champions while Southern had three individual champions but it was the Rams depth that captured the title.  Southern finished with 247.5 points and Kingsway came in second by a comfortable 33.5 point margin.

Southern placed all 14 of its wrestlers into the semifinals and 12 Rams will advance in the the Regions.  Nick Pepe (145), John Stout (170) and Matthew Barnett (132) are 2018 District 29 champions. 

The Rams next compete in the Region Eight Tournament starting Wednesday night at Egg Harbor Twp High School.

106 lbs - Matt Brielmeier -2nd place
120 lbs - Owen Kretschmer- 3rd place
126 lbs - Sebastian Delligatti -2nd place
132 lbs - Matt Barnett - Champion
138 lbs - Robert Woodcock- 3rd place
145 lbs - Nick Pepe - Champion 
152 lbs - Nick O'Connell- 2nd place
160 lbs - Dan Gorman - 2nd place
170 lbs - John Stout - Champion
195 lbs - Ben LoParo - 3rd Place
220 lbs - Matt Mackanic - 2nd place
285 lbs - Jayden Smith - 3rd place
