STAFFORD - The management of the Manahawkin Shop rite contacted the Stafford Township Police Department on April 21 to report a shoplifting that had taken place on March 25, 2017.  

The Shop Rite security department discovered the incident while reviewing video surveillance footage.  Shop Rite provided the police with the video surveillance as well as still photographs of an unidentified female who selected various items throughout the store, placed them in her cart, and exited the store passing all points of sale without paying.  

Security were able to utilize in-store video surveillance to see each individual item the suspect placed in her cart and were able to determine the exact value of the stolen groceries amounted to $305.61.

Photographs of the incident were posted on social media through Stafford Township Police Department’s Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter in an attempt to identify the suspect.   

The public assisted and the female was identified as Rachel A. Jackson, age 26 of Manahawkin.  Jackson was charged with shoplifting by the police and on May 5 was issued a complaint summons pending a future court appearance at Ocean County Superior Court.
