STATE COLLEGE, PA - Southern Regional Alum Mike Gesicki is having a strong season playing tight end for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team.  Penn State defeated Iowa 41-14 on Saturday at Beaver Stadium in State College, PA.  Before the season started, Mike was nominated as a potential John Mackey Award winner, which recognizes the best tight end in college football.

On Saturday night Mike caught 4 passes from quarterback Trace McSorley for 65 yards.  He is an important part of the Penn State's offense. One catch went for 43 yards that was just short of a touchdown.  On another play he made a reception and barreled though a defender to extend his catch an additional five yards.  He had an impressive outing against Iowa.  Mike is the second leading receiver on the team with 32 catches for 411 yards.

Running back Saquan Barclay is having a fantastic season.  He ran for 169 yards on 20 carries against Iowa.  He should be in the pool of potential Heisman Award candidates for 2016.
