STAFFORD and LONG BEACH ISLAND — The Ship Bottom Shellfish reported on Monday that there was a Covid-19 exposure at the restaurant. The business decided to close for a few days as a precaution.

Ship Bottom Shellfish is one of the fine restaurants that make up the Tide Table Group of Restaurants. Those restaurants include the Mud City Crab House, Old Causeway Steak and Oyster House, Parker's Garage, Bird and Betty's and the Ship Bottom Shellfish.

The ownership group made the decision to close all the restaurants with a plan to reopen this Saturday. The company issued the following statement on Tuesday, July 7.

These are some difficult times and we are prepared to make some difficult decisions.

While everyone at the Tide Table Restaurant Group is healthy and we have been following state and local guidelines, there has been a COVID-19 exposure at Ship Bottom Shellfish. Our families, staff and communities have always come first and in the best interest of everyone, we have decided to close all of the restaurants for a few days.

Considering the exposure combined with recent spikes, we feel this is in everyone’s best interest. We are confident this was not a company-wide exposure, but we feel it is important to act as a group.

We will spend the next several days sanitizing, monitoring Shellfish staff, and seeking guidance from the Long Beach Island Health Department before we reopen.

Be sure to support some of the other amazing LBI eateries. Please be safe and check our social media for update and openings over the next few days.

Sincerely, 💕
The Tide Table Family
