BRICK, NJ - The Southern Regional Girls Basketball team defeated Brick Township 48-26 on Tuesday night.  Southern was led for the first time this season by Jacqueline Ward with 17 points.  Lauren Cruse had 14 points for the Lady Rams.  Southern is a balanced team and a number of different players have been the team's leading scorer throughout the season.  On one night it is Colleen Brady, Cruse, Kaela Curtin, Shauna McHale or Anna Spaschak.  There is no doubt that Mikayla Nicolini would have had a place in that list but she has been slowed by injury most of the season.

It is good to have Mikayla back as the Rams move ahead towards post season action.  Southern's current record is 12-9 and 8-5 in Shore Conference Class A South.  Toms River North is the best team in A South this season.

Southern's next game is Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at home against Toms River South.
