STAFFORD TOWNSHIP — Last November, a young man stepped up to fill a void in his community by running for the Stafford Township Board of Education. Kevin Lyons Jr. was elected in November 2018 to serve a two-year term.  Lyons is a former Stafford student and 2017 Southern Regional High School Jr.  He followed in the footsteps of his dad Kevin and his mom Debbie. Kevin Lyons, Sr.has served for many years on the Southern Regional Board of Education and his mom Debbie serves on the Stafford school board.

Kevin Jr. handed his resignation in on September 19 to pursue his career goals.

“Over the summer my career path took a sudden change keeping me from attending meetings,“ Kevin said. “I realized that it was not fair to the people of Stafford. I knew it was in everyone's best interest if I resigned to allow a citizen who can be fully engaged in the business of the district to take my seat. It has been an honor to serve on the board and a once in a lifetime opportunity to do so with my mother. I am grateful to the residents of Stafford Township for this opportunity they have given me."

The Stafford Board of Education now has the responsibility of appointing a replacement for Lyons. The Board of Education will be looking for candidates to enter an interview process. . Once a replacement is appointed, that person will remain in the seat until the end of 2020.
