MANAHAWKIN, NJ — We may be in the midst of a pandemic, but one thing our community does best is come together when our own need support and love.
The Rank family is a beautiful family who do so much for our community.
Mike Rank, owner of M. Rank Roofing, has supplied veterans, police officers and others in need with free roofing and other services to show his appreciation. It really goes to show what kind of person Mike Rank is.
When the Stafford, Long Beach Island area heard about the accident with Mike and Nicole's two-year-old son Memphis on Sunday, April 19, community members immediately started brainstorming ways to support their family during this difficult time.
Pattie Romano, Realtor and friend of the family, said "I have known the Rank family for over 19 years, and they are just the nicest people. Mike and Nicole have such loving, kind hearts and it just makes me so sad when bad things happen to good people."
Memphis is currently at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia undergoing many surgeries. Memphis is doing well and getting to FaceTime with his twin sister, Mikenna, Pattie Romano told us.
Romano is helping to spread the word on ways to donate to the family.
"I am hoping to help alleviate some of their financial burdens because the medical bills will be astronomical, to say the least," Romano stated. "I know each and every one who knows Mike Rank knows if it was you or I, he would be the first out there to give a helping hand. Let’s show him the Power of our Community"
You can donate directly by mailing a check payable to Memphis Rank to TD Bank 571 East Bay Avenue Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Please put Memphis Rank on the envelope.
You can also send money directly to Memphis Rank on Venmo @MemphisStrong.
Another way to support the Rank family is by joining in on the Virtual Auction here organized by Chris Barlow.
You can "bid" on the items donated and can also contact Chris Barlow, of Big Barlow’s BBQ & Catering on the event page to donate an item.
The Virtual Auction will end on May 1.
On May 2, Big Barlow's BBQ & Catering will also be donating 20% of their sales directly to the bank account made for Memphis Rank.
"I met Mike when I started my food truck. He picked up pulled pork and brisket. The twins loved the pork and Nicole sent me a picture of them enjoying it," Chris Barlow said. "We became immediate friends because of how much he does for the community and I looked up to him for what he does and wanted to be just like him. He has been a big supporter in everything I did and I know that if the roles were switched he would do the exact same thing. What I am doing is the least I can do."
Order for pick-up from Big Barlow's BBQ at 21 South Main St. STE 6 in Barnegat from 12-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 for the "Memphis Rank Fundraiser." Order online here or by calling 609-549-3640.
