STAFFORD - At the Tuesday, October 23 meeting of the Stafford Township Council, the meeting began with the dedication of the Manahawkin Lake Pavilion in honor of Mayor John Spodofora.
The council read a proclamation that the Manahawkin Lake Park Pavilion will now be recognized and known as the John R. Spodofora Lake Pavilion.  The entire council was in support of the mayor.
Spodofora has served Stafford for more than 30 years.  He has served as mayor since 2012.
Paul Marchal spoke words of appreciation for Spodofora’s long-term service to the community. Some of his major accomplishments include his work to restore the Manahawkin Lake and preserve the land that now makes up the Manahawkin Lake Park. He has also been best known as an advocate of environment protection in the Manahawkin and Long Beach Island area.
In the meeting, Councilman Alan Smith said “The pavilion stands as a monument to everyone’s efforts to restore our past and make it a part of our future.”
