STAFFORD — Mayor Gregory Myhre and Police Chief Tom Dellane signed an executive order on Friday to ease restrictions on bars and restaurants so they can offer additional seating on their properties. This includes the potential of sidewalk seating and parking space seating.
The application process will be streamlined through the Building and Zoning Department and the Police Department. There will be no need to appear before the zoning or planning boards. This executive order is in effect until the end of the pandemic emergency.
However, this is a head start for businesses to apply in anticipation of Governor Murphy allowing seating in restaurants and bars.
Chief Dellane had to deal with a bit of controversy this week over a complaint about excessive noise coming from a Beach Haven West home that has daily played God Bless America and other songs as a symbol of patriotic strength and unity. The Stafford Police Department was forced to step in due to a complaint and give a warning about violating the noise ordinance.
The Chief and Police Department are extremely in favor of this form of patriotism but have asked for the volume to be turned down a bit. It seems all has been resolved in this matter.
