STAFFORD - A young woman from Little Egg Harbor, Gabrielle McMillan, was involved in a one car crash at the Causeway Bridge on Monday, June 24.  Ms. McMillan was airlifted to Atlantic City Medical Center and her dog Jax was ejected from the vehicle and was missing since the crash.

The Stafford Township Police Department, Bureau of Fire Prevention, Animal Control, family members as well as other agencies spent considerable time searching for Jax. 

McMillan, 23 years old of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, has been home and recuperating from the crash.  On Monday, July 8, McMIllan posted on her facebook page that Jax is home safe.  She wrote

"Jax is home safe. Thank you to everyone who was so understanding and supportive through this. We are just thrilled he is alive. He is going to get tons of loving and care." 

The Stafford Township Police Department and other agencies were heavily involved in assisting in the search for Jax.  On Monday, July 1 the department announed that they would no longer be working on rescuing Jax.  The family had an independent organization working to rescue the dog. Jax has been reported to have been on the Cedar Bonnet Island trail area during the ordeal.  

So many of Southern Ocean area residents are happy for Jax's family and the joy they are experiencing being reunited with their pet.
