STAFFORD - On Monday evening, December 16 a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision occurred on Hilliard Boulevard near Stafford Avenue.
Stafford Police investigation revealed that a 2008 Ford Escape driven by Maxwell Degennaro, 19 years old of Barnegat, N.J. was traveling west on Hilliard Boulevard when a pedestrian, Michael McCarthy, 39 years of Manahawkin, N.J. was running in his lane of travel toward Degennaro’s vehicle.
As Degennaro moved to the opposite lane to avoid McCarthy, McCarthy jumped on the hood of Degennaro’s vehicle and rolled off of it. Degennaro continued a short way up the road and notified police.
While waiting for authorities to arrive, a 2007 Honda Pilot was traveling east on Hilliard Boulevard in this same area. It was operated by Jeffrey Glines, 44 years old of Barnegat, N.J.
Glines stated a pedestrian jumped into his lane of travel resulting in an impact with Glines’ vehicle. Glines pulled over and rendered assistance to McCarthy until police arrived.
McCarthy sustained lower extremity injuries from the collision, and was transported to Atlantic City Trauma where he was listed in stable condition.
No summonses have been issued at this time as this incident is under investigation.
