SHIP BOTTOM, NJ- At 11:52 a.m. on Sunday June 9, 2019, the Ship Bottom Police Department was made aware of a stolen vehicle within the borough that was reported stolen out of West Orange, NJ, the press release said.
The vehicle was located by Ptl. Tretola who attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, but instead the driver failed to stop.
While fleeing the police, the driver struck another vehicle causing a motor vehicle accident on Long Beach Blvd.
"The vehicle then continued to drive, leaving the scene of the accident and was then abandoned behind a residence on East 7th St. and the driver then fled on foot," said police.
The driver, Savio G. Garcia, 18 of Newark, NJ was later located, arrested and charged with multiple criminal charges and motor vehicle violations with assistance from the Long Beach Township Police Department.
Garcia was later transported and lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
