STAFFORD — Southern's Kevin Kiernan scored on a free kick with 15 minutes left in the contest to tie the match at 2-2. The Rams won in overtime on penalty kicks to advance to the next round of the South Jersey Group IV playoffs.
Williamstown took the lead in the first half and Southern's Kerem Satar headed in a cross from senior Ben Hanneman in the 37th minute to tie the game at 1-1. The Rams then fell behind after Williamstown goal and Kiernan connected on his 18th goal fo the season to put the Rams into overtime.
With the penalty-kick victory, Southern gets opportunity for revenge against No. 4 seed Jackson on Friday at Jackson Memorial at 2 p.m. The Rams lost 1-0 on October 2 and Jackson clinched the Class A South championship.
Kayce Bennet saved a shot during the round of penalties to help the Rams (12-2-3) escape with the victory over Williamstown.
