BERLIN, MD — The Southern Regional Wrestling team never turns down a challenge. On Saturday the Rams traveled to Maryland to face the best competition on the East Coast.

The Rams came in third place in the team standings competing against 23 other high schools in the War on the Shore Tournament at Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, Md.

Southern's champions were Conor Collins (106), Eddie Hummel (138) and Robert Woodcock (160) and J.T. Cornelius (heavyweight).

Collins (17-2), a freshman defeated Owan Rawls of Nansemond River, Va. 8-1.

Hummel (17-0), a junior and the state sixth-place finisher last year at 126 when he was at Roselle Catholic, defeated Clement Woods of Mount Saint Josephs (Md.) by technical fall. 

Woodcock (17-1), a senior and a two-time state qualifier, pinned Spencer Charlesworth of Lake Braddock (Va.) with 44 seconds left in the third period.  

Cornelius (17-1), a senior who last week committed to Monmouth University for football, defeated Mike Collins of Parkside, Md. 2-0. Cornelius was a state qualifier at 220 last year.
