STAFFORD — Southern Regional Boys Volleyball Coach Eric Maxwell just received another distinctive honor. The long time Southern Regional Volleyball Coach was named 2018 Coach of the Year by the Shore Conference Volleyball Coaches Association.
Maxwell has been head coach at Southern for 19 years. His overall record is a remarkable 579-97.
The Rams just completed their 2018 season with a close loss to Old Bridge in the NJSIAA State finals. Southern finished this season with a 37-5 overall record.
"I certainly don't coach for any individual honors as I am just concerned with team success," said Maxwell. "At the same time it is an honor to be recognized. I thank my coaching staff and players for putting me in the position to have the success that we had. I would trade this though for two more points in the state final game."
Maxwell also serves as the Girls Volleyball Coach at Southern. The girls program is also one of the top programs in New Jersey.
