For older children, the Y offers leadership programs like Leader’s in Training (LIT). Our camps encourage campers to become better leaders, positive role models, and they look great on a resumes to boot!

In addition, we offer Special Needs Camp. The Special Needs Programs at the Summit Area YMCA are thoughtfully designed for children/teens with communication, social, behavioral and learning differences to thrive in a safe, friendly and supportive environment. For more on special needs, go to: https://www.thesay.org/summer-camp/Special-Needs

Under the guidance of caring, enthusiastic, trained staff members, Y campers will create lasting friendships, lifelong memories, and find positive role models to look up to. According to the American Camp Association, “Camps and other youth development programs provide the opportunity to reduce summer learning loss in an expanded learning environment where children are engaged experientially and have an opportunity for additional academic enrichment.” Camp is also a place where children can unplug from technology and enjoy just being a kid. Children grow, laugh and play in camp while building confidence, resiliency and friendship!

Our programs inspire campers to embrace the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and challenge them to grow physically, mentally, and socially by gaining an appreciation for other perspectives, encouraging campers to become better friends, students and leaders and, of course, to have fun!

“Jack absolutely loved camp. This was his first year and he was nervous at first, but the counselors were awesome and made him feel very comfortable. He still sings his camp songs and talks about it all the time! He made lots of new friends and really enjoyed every moment. I plan to send him back next year!”
