SUMMIT, NJ - Back when there were only three television channels, and the entire family would gather around just one electronic device, old-fashioned holiday variety shows -- starring Donny and Marie, Perry Como and The Mandrell Sisters -- were a holiday tradition.  Dreamcatcher Reperatory Theatre, in their home at The Oakes Center in Summit, will present their annual irreverent spoof of these holiday specials of yesteryear, with "A Very Special (Holiday) Special" takes the MainStage December 12 and 13 at 8 p.m.

The corny fun of these old-fashioned holiday variety will shows will receive an affectionate send-up as Dreamcatcher's Resident Acting Company will entertain with holiday songs, comic sketches, and improv,.  Each year’s show is original, with past years’ performances having included Santa going Gangnam Style, commercials for ridiculous products, and a post-holiday scene at the returns counter of a department store.  

This year’s show will include musical spoofs, topical sketches, and unique silliness.  Performing in the show are Dreamcatcher Company members Nicole Callender, Clark Carmichael, Laura Ekstrand, Noreen Farley, Jessica O’Hara-Baker, Jason Szamreta, and special guest Eli Ganias.

The Oakes Center is located at 120 Morris Avenue, with.parking available in the lot behind the theatre on Ashwood Avenue. and at the Summit Community Center on Morris Avenue, as well as on the street.  The facility is wheelchair accessible.
