SUMMIT, NJ - Swimming's Abby Claus and Basketball's Jack Washburn have earned Summit High School Athlete of the Week honors, presented by TAP into Summit, for the week ending January 28.
Each week throughout the school athletic year, an athlete or athletes will be honored for distinguishing themselves in the arena of competition, in the classroom, and for demonstrating exemplary, Hilltopper-caliber sportsmanship and leadership qualities.
Claus finished third at the Union County Championships in both the 50 and 100 Free, and swam on the second-place 400 Free Relay team along with Katie Greer, Natalie Wisniewski, and Kaitlyn Hersch. Claus will be going to the Meet of Champions as part of the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay teams, as well as individually in the 50 and 100 Free.
Washburn, a senior captain on the Boys Varsity Boys Basketball team, returned to the court last week after battling a lower back issue. According to Head Coach Dan Healy, "Jack has always been tremendous leader and supporter of his teammates."
