Abracadabra: Illusionist O'Brien to Perform Tales of Magic and Mystery Oct. 31

SUMMIT, NJ - Master Illusionist, and Summit native, Mark O'Brien returns to perform Halloween Tales of Magic and Mystery, October 31 at MONDO.

O'Brien will feature in three special shows, a "Spooky Children's Show" at 5 p.m., and two adult-appropriate shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
O’Brien began performing magic 37 years ago in junior high school, and presented “Magic World” in 1977 as a fundraiser for his junior class.  Angelo Del Rossi caught his show and gave him his true show business start, booking him at the Cape Playhouse as part of their children’s program.
After graduating from Northwestern, O’Brien devoted his time to a full-time career in magic and performed locally at the Papermill Playhouse.  A Nickelodeon producer caught his show at the Papermill, which eventually led to many appearances on the network's show "Total Panic."  O'Brien has performed in Atlantic City, and produced illusions for Disney, the touring production of Aladdin, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

O'Brien returns to Summit with a 50-minute show that will be a mix of true Halloween tales, combined with magic and illusion in an intimate setting.  O’Brien says this show is the beginning of a new show centered more on the “paranormal.”
In addition to the magic and mysterious tales, O'Brien and his assistant -- with the help of the audience -- will attempt to contact Harry Houdini, a.k.a. "The Great Houdini," the famed illusionisht who died on Halloween 88 years ago.  “Why not," said O’Brien, “We have as good a chance as anyone to contact Houdini, if not better.”
Tickets for the 5 p.m. "Spooky Children's Show" are priced at $12 for adults, $7 for children, and tickets for the two other performances are $20 for adults, and $15 for persons ages 16-21.  All tickets are available by visiting
Costume attire, of course, is welcome, with MONDO located at 426 Springfield Avenue.
