An Exceptional Candidate for Summit Council, Fox Has Natural Ability to Inspire Partnership

Marjorie Fox is an exceptional candidate for the Summit Council. She is smart, hard-working and kind. She will apply all of her considerable energy and abilities for the betterment of the Summit community. And, she will do her best to represent ALL the citizens of Summit.

I have been acquainted with Marjorie for fifteen years and was aware of her work with the Summit Environmental Commission; however, I got to know Marjorie very well over the past three years. Marjorie and I co-chaired an almost three-year initiative to educate congregants and change environmentally impactful habits of Congregation Ohr Shalom – Summit JCC. We led this charge under the mantle of the GreenFaith certification program.

This project was complicated and challenging in so many ways. Marjorie’s leadership and ability to juggle competing demands was remarkable. She attacked each requirement with enthusiasm and clarity. When we needed to learn more about a specific area of environmental stewardship, we worked together to master new knowledge. I was repeatedly impressed by Marjorie’s ability to inspire others and engage them in the work. Collaboration is challenging for some, but Marjorie has natural ability to inspire partnership. She is polite, but firm and is able to enlist cooperation and support. She leads by doing and never hesitates to “roll up her sleeves” and pitch in.

In addition to working within the Congregation Ohr Shalom community, with the support of Summit’s Interfaith Clergy Council, we formed an interfaith environmental group – Summit GreenFaith Circle – as a pilot program for GreenFaith.  Our “Circle” was the first in the country and has accomplished city-wide results. By working together with representatives from many Summit faith communities, we have held numerous community-wide environmental forums on important aspects of caring for the Earth. Marjorie led this charge concurrent with the already heavy responsibility of leading the GreenFaith Certification effort.

It has been an enormously rewarding experience to work with Marjorie on these efforts and to see her “in action.”  I am so pleased that Marjorie is offering to assume a greater role in Summit.

The city and its citizens would be fortunate to have her on the Summit Council. By working collaboratively and transparently with all constituencies within our wonderful community, Summit will be strengthened by Marjorie’s leadership. I wholeheartedly endorse Marjorie Fox as Summit’s next Councilwoman.
