SUMMIT, NJ - The Wells Fargo Bank location in Summit, located at 1 Maple Street on the corner of Maple and DeForest Avenue, was the site of an apparent midday robbery attempt today at 12:16 p.m..

According to reports, a Caucasian or Hispanic male passed the a bank teller a note claiming to have a weapon before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

Height - 6' 4" (approximate)
Build - Heavyset
Age - 30s
Hair - Black, worn over the ears
Clothing - Yellow Shirt with Gray Sweater
Additional reports indicate that authorities may be looking for a black Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows.
No one was injured in the incident, which is the subject of an onging investigation to be conducted by the FBI.
According to authorities, the Wells Fargo location in Maplewood was the site of another robbery attempt at 1:15 p.m. It is not known if the two incidents are related or connected, however -- according to TAPinto SOMA -- a suspect in the Maplewood bank robbery attempt has been apprehended in Jersey City and taken into custody.
The man attempting the robbery in Maplewood was described as having long hair and wearing a yellow T-shirt, gray sweater and blue jeans.
