Basketball Buffet Served Up as Summit High School Girls, Boys Programs Support 'Hoops For Hope' Event Jan. 14

SUMMIT, NJ - Every Summit High School Basketball Girls and Boys Basketball Team -- freshman to varsity level -- will play at home January 14 when the Kent Place Boulevard campus hosts the tenth edition of he annual 'Hoops For Hope' event.

The roundball extravaganza is an integrated effort by both programs to raise funds and awareness for the Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation and the Adrienne Reid Memorial Scholarship Fund.

10:30 a.m. - Summit Boys Freshman v. Warren Hills Regional, Main Gym

10:30 a.m. - Summit Girls JV v. New Providence, Auxiliary Gym

12 p.m. - Summit Boys JV v. Warren Hills Regional, Auxiliary Gym

12 p.m. - Summit Girls Varsity v. New Providence, Main Gym

1:30 p.m. - Summit Boys Varsity v. Warren Hills Regional, Main Gym

The Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation serves the uninsured women of Newark and Elizabeth through dedicated programs at local hospitals., reaching out to women annually through free educational sessions and breast cancer screenings, The Center's mission is to provide advanced care -- from screening to diagnosis to treatment and follow-up -- for all women, regardless of their ability to pay. There is a special focus on addressing the statistical disparity in the disease's impact among African-American and Hispanic women.

The Adrienne Reid Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Summit High School senior class female athlete each year. Reid passed away in 2008 after a long battle with breast cancer. Her daughter, Alex, played for the Hilltoppers, Class of 2009.

The event will include the sale of commemorative 'Hoops For Hope' T-Shirts, the chance to enter a raffle for special prizes, and an expanded concession stand.
